Favorite Pokemon Generation

Post by Z-man on Sat Nov 30, 2013 5:31 pm

If you could only pick one, which would it be and why?
For me, it would definitely be Gen 3; Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald were perfectly made and just about all of the Pokemon in that Gen were ascetically awesome. Not to mention it gave rise to a ton of NU/UU Pokemon, which I love.

So I cannot seem to make it so my vote is accepted. I personally loved generation 4. The graphics were improved from gen 1 and 2 significantly, everything went wireless and it was the first time I got into battling competitively. I also absolutely loved the extended story line of generation 2 where you could battle all 16 gym leaders. So It was also nice to see the remake of gold and silver come out in generation 4. :)

Hmmm really? o.O
I actually never played the ORIGINAL gen 2 games; only the remakes.
And as for gen 4 yeah it was pretty awesome too, it had some of the coolest Dragon types.

Yeah gen 4 would be my second choice. I started competitive battling in gen 4 and my fav pokemon Infernape is there.

gen 4 is mine. it added so many mechanics that we still use such as the sp/physical split, online features, and it had my previously favorite entires in the entire series with heartgold and soulsilver.

x and y are my new favorite games in the series for the amount of things you can do within them, the artistic presentation, and the looker aftergame with its attempts at emotional connection, but the generation itself is lackluster imo.

Oh yes, the physical / special split was big.
I don't know much about the XY story line but it sure sounds good.

As an old fart that I am, I started out in Gen 1 but didn't played competitively until Gen 2. My favorite is Gen 2 not just because of nostalgia, but it introduced many things that the later games incorporated later on. There were more unique teams back then... yes the link cables, rather than the cookie cutting teams I see now.

I must say though, Gen 6 is a lot better than gen 5, in regards of battling.

Yeah, personally I can't stand standard teams. Like in Gen 6 it's all the same; T-tar, Talonflame, Aegislash, Azumarill, etc... Granted, as of now there's not as much to choose from, but still.

mm this is a hard question. I don't really have a favorite generation because each generation has something cool about it.

Gen 6 is my favourite. They brought about a class a villain which has been missing from the games in my opinion. There haven't been any ethical dilemmas and intellectual discussion (Ghetsis). Team Flare thought: People suck; they should die. So simple it's brilliant

I would have to say Gen 4 since Pearl was my first pokemon game.

Yeah a lot of people started battling competitively 4th gen, including myself. 4th gen added a lot of new things as well, not to mention it moved pokemon to the nintendo DS.

As great as Gen VI is, I still find Gen III to be much better in my opinion.
